Wait! Let’s Do Googel First!
By admin March 18th, 2008 Filed Under Humour
Let’s take a break for one minute in our showbiz tsismis and intriga and gossip and everything celebrity and showbiz. Let’s talk about the word Googel for a second.
If you type in Googel.com on your internet browser, you’ll get the Google.com page! That is because it is redirected to it and of course, Googel is Google.
Googel is the most commonly mistyped word for the biggest search engine of all – Google.
But did you know that the original name for Google was Googol? Yes it is! It was just mistyped during the query in the internet domain name registrar.
Googol eh? Geeezzzh, if Ms. Annabelle Rama would say Google, i think she’ll get away with it… kahit “Googol“ang pronounced nya. )

Google was first hosted with the name Google at google.standford.edu (see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Google#Early_history). That would mean they originally intended for Google to be the name, not Googol in my eyes, though there is a possibility of making an error as a project at Standard, though that seems very unlikely.
However, Google is undoubtedly a misspelling of googol, whether intentional or unintentional. Does anyone have evidence of Larry Page or Sergy Brin saying anything on the matter? A few quick searches gave me no solid results.
[...] I really never looked at it like it’s a competition or we have to beat anyone to win. It’s like any other game/sports, let’s do it for the fun of it. If I didn’t tell anybody, where’s the fun in that? There’s no thrill to get to the first page. It’s better and a little challenging and will motivate you if you know that you’re not the only one who’s trying to conquer Googel. [...]
