PISA, Italy – Twenty- three year old Vien Mortel bagged the title “Ginoong Pilipinas Italya 2009” held at Palazzo Dei Congressi here.
“Masayang-masaya kasi nakuha ko iyong goal ko na dito sa stage maipakita ang sarili ko,” said Mortel.
Mortel also won 3 other special awards like Best in Casual Wear, Best in Barong and Mr. Friendship.
Last year, Mortel joined Mr. Gwapo in Pisa but he failed to bag the title. He said the experience he gained in the last competition gave him the chance to do better this time around.
Meanwhile, Ginoong Pilipinas Italya 2009 1st runner up Kimmy Somoza was happy with his title.
“Overwhelmed ako kasi first time ko nga at naka-1st runner up,” said Somoza.
Second runner up winner Jayson David also received the Best in Swimwear award.
Glenn Mulleno, the 3rd runner up winner, was also the Best in Formal wear, while 4th runner up Jon Ramos secured the Best in Talent award.
Although some did not succeed, they said the experience they learned was worth the effort.
“Kailanangan na madagdagan pa ang performance ko lalo na ng makita ko sa sarili ko ang confidence kasi pagdating sa stage iba pala ang reaction mo,” said one of the other candidates, Kevin Amparo.
The competition, which serves as an initiative to raise funds for children in need in the Philippines, will donate US$1,000 to support the project of ABS-CBN Bantay Bata Foundation.
