Charice is set to make her debut on ‘Glee’ on September 21

The hit US television series Glee has released a promotional video for its much-anticipated second season set to begin on September 21. The teaser shows what fans can expect about the continuation of the story of the high school glee club dreaming to win in the national competition. Filipino singing sensation Charice will also be part of Glee’s second season.

A snippet of the said promo video shows 18-year-old Charice and Glee lead star Lea Michelle (who plays Rachel Berry) belting out Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” inside a bathroom in what appeared to be a showdown. The show’s antagonist Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) then enters to break up the fight. As the newest cast member of Glee, Charice will play Sunshine Corazon, a Filipino exchange student “whose killer vocals get Rachel contemplating murder.”

Charice is now a rising international recording star whose first worldwide released album is currently ranked number eight on the US Billboard chart. She was first known to Filipino audiences as a runner-up in ABS-CBN’s singing competition Little Big Star. Videos of her musical performances were uploaded online and captured the interest of American TV host Ellen DeGeneres. Charice was invited by Ellen to guest and perform on her show, and later on the singer also appeared on Oprah. Host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey raved over Charice, “You are a force to be reckoned with. That voice comes from something bigger than yourself.”

Charice is set to come home to Manila to perform at the David Foster and Friends concert to be staged on October 23 at the Araneta Coliseum. David, a renowned composer, is also instrumental in giving Charice a break in the international scene. Other performers in the said concert include Natalie Cole, Peter Cetera, and American Idol winner Ruben Studdard. After performing in Manila, they will proceed to Indonesia and Thailand.
