Star Cinema reveals box-office gross of its films in 2009

The films of Star Cinema for 2009 earned a total of P1.135 billion, according to figures provided by ABS-CBN’s film production outfit. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) met with the Star Cinema executives of Star Cinema—Star AdProm director Roxy Liquigan and Star Cinema & TV Synergy Specialist Mico del Rosario—earlier today, January 15, at the ABS-CBN compound to discuss how their films did last year.
You Changed My Life, the Sarah Geronimo-John Lloyd Cruz-starrer, was once again a Valentine hit with its gross of P208.8 million. Star Cinema has promised that the love story of Laida Magtalas and Miggy Montenegro will continue, with Cathy Garcia-Molina still at the helm, but they have no definite date yet for its release.
Given the fact that Ai-Ai delas Alas starred in three blockbuster hits last year—Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat, BFF (Best Friends Forever), and Ang Tanging Pamilya—there is a big possibility that she will be hailed as the Box-Office Queen. However, that will depend on the criteria set by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. and whether they will count the gross of Ang Tanging Ina as part of the 2009 movies, or if it should be classified as part of 2008. The three films of Ai-Ai earned a total of P374.5 million.
Del Rosario pointed out that even though Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat was part of the 2008 Metro Manila Film Fest, they still consider this Ai-Ai delas Alas starrer as part of their 2009 lineup. This is because even though the film opened on Christmas day, it had a much longer screening period during the month of January 2009.
Last year, Sarah was hailed as the Box-Office Queen by the GMMSFI for her blockbuster hit A Very Special Love, while her leading man John Lloyd Cruz was named Box-Office King.

Rafael Rosell says he’s no Robert Pattinson copycat in Ang Darling Kong Aswang

I think it’s a good time for storytelling and fairy tales so okay din naman na maglabas sila ng Ang Darling Kong Aswang, para sa mga bata naman itong Christmas. Panakot lang nang konti ang pelikula namin pero siyempre more on comedy pa rin.”
VAMPIRE FIGHT SCENES.
Never akong naka-encounter at happy na ako du’n.”
Papakagat ako tapos eternal life na yun. Kumbaga siya na ang mag-aalaga sa akin.”

How Hard is the Iron Man?

Very Hard, apparently! Just like the rest of the Marvel and DC superheroes made into movie, the Filipinos welcomed and accepted the newest Superhero to appear on the silver screen!
Have you seen the movie yet? If you still haven’t, may I suggest you do so now so you wont be left behind the ‘kwentuhan’ and all. The movie and the CGI – the armor – is quite nice.
Check out what this guy has to say about Iron Man.
Cheers!
BTW, if you do decide to watch it… don’t leave the movie theater when the closing credits roll by.. there’s a small little bonus at the end! Wait for it ok?
Annabelle Rama is “Monster Mom”!
If you guys haven’t heard yet, Ruffa Guiterrez’ mom – Annabelle Rama - will star on a movie project by Regal Entertainment, Inc. and GMA Films.
And suitably enough the title of the movie is “Monster Mom”. Is this a true story you may ask? Or is it even based on a true story? Or is it even based on HER life story? Nope, I don’t think so (but that is always a possibility)…
Here’s the result of her first shooting day: “Unang-una, sa nerbiyos ko talaga nakalimutan ko ang dialogue ko samantalang sa bahay minamani-mani ko ang script ko.” And and put some visayan accent to that line and it will always makes me smile… I love seeing her on TV.. If she’s on TV, that’s entertainment!
Anyway, I don’t know it this movie will be a hit we’ll just have to wait and see then..
Good luck “Monster Mom!“
