Willie Revillame apologize for Cory Remark

MANILA, Philippines—Controversial noontime TV show host Willie Revillame found himself in the hot seat again on Monday, beset by furious comments from bloggers and social networking websites. The reason: He objected, on air, to the insertion of a video of former President Corazon Aquino’s cortege on his show, “Wowowee.”

“It’s the most insensitive thing I heard today,” read a comment posted on Facebook. “Iba ka talaga Willie. Kakaibang paggalang kay Cory ’yan,” said another.

“He should raise the issue behind the scenes … but I guess that’s too much to ask [of someone] who hurts women, exploits poor people’s stories …,” another Revillame detractor said.

On Tuesday, Revillame apologized to his viewers, to the Aquino family and to the network (ABS-CBN) management “for hurting their feelings.” He added that his request to stop the inserted video was really “a sign of love and respect for Tita Cory.”

“Salamat, President Cory,” which aired on Monday, was the special coverage of the transfer of Aquino’s remains from the La Salle Green Hills gym in Mandaluyong City to the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros.

The TV special was cut shortly after the cortege reached the Ninoy Aquino Shrine in Makati City, to give way to the live telecast of “Wowowee.” When the noontime show started airing, ABS-CBN inserted a portion of the Aquino cortege.

During the show’s “Willie of Fortune” segment, Revillame said: “’Di po maganda. Nagsasaya kami dito habang nagluluksa ang sambayanang Pilipino. ’Di ko magagampanan ang pagpapatawa habang ipinapakita ang libing ng dating presidente.” (“It’s not good for us to have fun here while the whole country grieves. I cannot make people laugh at the same time that this part of the funeral of our former president is being shown.”)

When Revillame’s reaction found its way to YouTube, it was met with a huge wave of negative reactions.

On Tuesday, Revillame explained: “Ang feeling ko hindi magandang ipinapakita ‘yon habang kami’y nagsasaya. ’Wag kayong magagalit sa akin … ” He said he was willing to give way to the airing of the TV special, but that his bosses instructed him to do the show live.

Prior to asking to have the inserted video removed, Revillame said, he had made the same appeal to Entertainment Production head Linggit Tan during a commercial break: “When it was showed again, that’s when I reacted.”

It is not yet known where Ruffa Gutierrez is staying right now. Annabelle Rama and Ruffa Gutierrez had a serious tiff over John Lloyd Cruz whom Annabelle revealed, sends food and gifts to Ruffa and is seriously courting Ruffa. John Lloyd Cruz has yet to confirm if he and girlfriend Liz Uy had indeed broken up. Liz Uy is in Europe with friends including Anne Curtis reportedly to mend a broken heart.

Bossing Vic Sotto for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on TV5. Yes folks, that’s the news that we heard lately. At first I thought that the popular tv show franchise “Who wants to be a millionaire” will be aired on Vic Sotto’s mother network – GMA7, but it is found out that it’s TV5!

Who Wants To Be A millionaire PHilippine edition was once hosted by Christopher “Boyet” De Leon (It was aired on IBC 13 until 2002 when its studio was razed by a fire. It was a hit among Pinoy televiewers back then) and now, as we said earlier, will be on air again this May but with a different host. The new host is none other than “Bossing” Vic Sotto!

The show will be on air again on May 23 and the new schedule is every Saturday, 6:00PM at TV5.

He will be joining his best friend Joey de Leon in the TV5 family. Joey hosts the new season of “Wow Mali!” on the rising network.

The popularity of Who Wants to Be  A millionaire game show was revived by the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. To date, more than 60 countries have their own version of the show. And this year, the Philippines will have another version, too, courtesy of TV5.

GETTING BACK WITH JACKIE. Kamakailan ay nabalitang nagkabalikan na sila ulit ng misis niyang si Jackie Manzano.

“Four months,” mabilis na sagot ni Anjo. “Pero naghiwalay din kami before, mga one year. ‘Tapos naayos namin yun. So, ngayon, inaayos din namin. Kasi, gusto namin tuluy-tuloy na, yung maayos na maayos na.”

Paano naganap ang balikan nila ni Jackie?

“Wala. Ah, na-miss namin ang isa’t isa. ‘Tapos, ‘ayun, nag-usap kami kung puwede pa, ganun-ganun. Hanggang ngayon inaayos pa rin namin. Mukhang papunta naman sa maganda.”

Ano yung inaayos pa nila?

“Yung mga dating problema namin. Kaya nga kami naghiwalay dati kasi nga meron akong mga ayaw, meron siyang mga ayaw. Pero so far, okey naman. Maayos naman yung usapan namin kaya mukhang papunta na doon.”

Magkasama na raw sila ngayon ni Jackie sa isang bahay. Kaya halos wala nang problema basta’t magawa nila ang mga pangako.

“Actually, wala na, e. Kung kakayanin lang talaga namin yung mga pangako namin.”

Anu-ano ang mga pangako nila sa isa’t isa?

“Secret na lang yun, e. Secret ng mga mag-asawa.”

Sino ang unang sumuko kanino?

“Wala naman. Ah, nagsimula sa text-text. ‘Tapos usap-usap,” lahad ni Anjo.

Nagte-text pa rin sila sa isa’t kahit nung hiwalay sila?

“After a long time, yun na. Siguro na-miss namin ang isa’t isa. ‘Tapos yun nag-usap. ‘Tapos yun ang nalaman namin, hindi ko kasi alam dahil hindi kami nag-uusap. Nalaman ko na mahal pa niya ako. ‘Tapos sabi ko sa kanya ikaw pa rin ang mahal ko.”

Paano niya nalaman na mahal pa rin siya ni Jackie?

“Sinabi niya,” kasunod ang tawa ni Anjo.

Paano niya naman nasabi na mahal pa rin niya si Jackie?

“Siyempre tinanong niya rin. So, tinanong niya kung meron akong iba.”

Ano ang natutunan niya sa paghihiwalay nila ni Jackie?

“Ah, natutunan? Siguro natutunan naming ayusin yung dapat ayusin.”

Yeah, before I left for Canada months back, there’s this issue between Gretchen Barretto and Nadia Montenegro… Now, recent news from PEP Philippines shows that the two will kiss and make up… Well, at least Gretchen was qouted “In my heart, I have chosen to forgive her. Kung anuman ang nangyari, I will learn from the experience.”
