GMA-7 lead male actor Aljur Abrenica, in a recent press conference for the upcoming fantasy series Ilumina, denies issues saying that he has gay benefactors.

A member of the entertainment press asked Aljur during the presscon of the new GMA-7 series if he has gay benefactors. Aljur was surprised with the question ,which was delivered with utmost audacity.

Aljur was speechless for a time before he can answer the simple question. He, however, outrightly denied the issue of having gay benefactors.

Aljur is among the main casts of Ilumina, which stars Rhian Ramos and Jackie Rice as Siamese twins who possess supernatural powers. It had been earlier reported that Aljur will be leaving his former onscreen partner Kris Bernal for a new loveteam with Rhian. Ilumina is also among the first projects of newly transferred Kapuso star Cesar Montano.

Young actor Coco Martin is keeping his distance from Kris Aquino and James Yap’s impending separation.

Martin, Aquino’s co-star in the now defunct teleserye “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,” is being romantically linked to the actress-television host. The young actor vehemently denied the speculation, saying he considers Aquino as his older sister.

He also said he has high respect for the actress and her family.

“Nagkaroon na ng ganyang isyu noon, which is hindi naman kami naapektuhan. Kumbaga hinahayaan na lang namin ang mga tao. Hindi naman namin maco-control kung ano ang iisipin nila at sasabihin sa amin,” Martin said after signing a 4-film contract with ABS-CBN’s movie outfit Star Cinema on Monday.

He also admitted that he is still in constant communication with his “Ate Kris.” “Sabi ko nga kung alam lang nila kung gaano kabait ang Aquino family at ang pagsuporta at ang suportang binibigay sa akin ni Ate Kris.”

Did he ever give an advice to Aquino regarding her marriage to Yap?

“Unang una, mas matanda siya sa akin. Nahihiya naman ako na ako pa ang mag-advice or magsalita sa ganyang bagay. Lalong lalo na nai-isyu kami parang ayokong [magsalita]. Alam ko naman na kayang kaya na ni Ate Kris yan. Ako sa mga naitutulong nila sa akin, sobra akong nagpapasalamat,” he said.

Martin said, as a friend, he hopes Aquino and Yap will eventually reconcile for the sake of their son, 3-year-old Baby James. He said he already met Yap and he found him nice.

Aside from Martin, Aquino is also romantically linked to young actor Gerald Anderson, Sen. Francis Escudero and Makati Mayor Jejomar “Junjun” Binay Jr.

When asked to comment on Aquino’s alleged new love, Martin said: “Ako personally hindi ako naniniwala doon. Sa pagkakakilala ko kay Ms. Kris, sa dami ng iniisip niya, sa dami ng ginagawa niya, wala na siyang panahon sa ganoong bagay.”

1st mainstream film

Dubbed as Prince of Indie due to his numerous independent movies, Martin is set to star in his first ever mainstream film titled “Sa ‘Yo Lamang.” He will star alongside Zanjoe Marudo, Christopher de Leon, Lorna Tolentino, Enchong Dee, Bea Alonzo and Shaina Magdayao.

Magdayao will be his love interest in the film.

“Sobrang excited ako kasi ito ang kauna-unahan kong mainstream na pelikula. Tapos siyempre ang director ko pa dito ay si direk Laurice Guillen na sobrang galing,” Martin said.

He is also scheduled to do a suspense-horror film titled “Dalaw” under Star Cinema, with Diether Ocampo, Mariel Rodriguez, Maja Salvador and Aquino.

Another movie with hunk actor John Lloyd Cruz is also lined-up for him.

While he is excited to do mainstream movies, Martin is not turning his back on independent films. “Hindi ko iiwan kasi doon ako nagsimula at never, never kong tatalikuran ‘yong pinanggalingan ko.”

And female lead ng afternoon soap sa Gma 7 si Carla Abellana ay napapabalitang ang away nila ng kapuwa kapuso na si Marian Rivera. “Ayan may nagsabi nga sa akin. Sabi ko, umalis lang ako ng tatlong araw, meron na palang ganun.” reaksyon ni carla.

” Wala akong sinabi kahit na ano, wala ako sinabing kahit ano about Marian.

Kasi yung kanya, ilang taon nya pinaghirapan yun.

Charice Pempengco gets Botox

Before that big plunge into primetime American television, a Filipino teenage singing sensation has decided to undergo the latest, state-of-the-art cosmetic surgical procedure to prepare that look set to strike fear in Rachel Berry’s eyes.

Right now Charice Pempengco still looks all so bubbly and effervescent. But, with a character set to make life miserable for the leading female character in “Glee,” it is but natural that such changes would happen, particularly with that round, beaming face.

Cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo dedicated her Saturday schedule for a skin-tightening Botox procedure on the youngster to achieve a narrower, firmer face that would make her look apt for the breakthrough role in her fresh yet phenomenal career.

Charice herself said that such procedure was important since she will be appearing in a hugely popular, critically acclaimed and widely followed show: “Lahat po ng mga tao inaasahan nila, ‘Ano kaya ‘yong itsura ni Charice? Karapat-dapat ba siyang itapat kay Rachel Berry?’ So, siyempre sobrang laki ng pressure,” she tells ABS-CBN.

Belo herself injected Botox on her face in the jaw area right after a painless thermage procedure at her Tomas Morato clinic. This was necessary to take inches off her growing, naturally round face, Belo explained, to prepare her for ‘Glee’s’ second season, which starts filming by end of this month.

After a successful audition last month, Charice landed the plum role about a Filipino exchange student who’s attending McKinley High School and joining the school’s New Directions glee club. In the story, Charice’s character will rival Rachel, played by Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Lea Michele.

Certainly, it will be the role and the face that will have the whole world watching. As such, the slight facial transformation was necessary, Belo stressed. But the procedure she said was merely to check her widening face muscles, which will become more emphasized or worse bloated on high-definition cameras. But no facial enhancement was needed, she added.

“So what we did, we did thermage, pampaliit ng mukha ‘yon… ‘yong muscle [sa jaw area] na nagbu-bulge, puwedeng i-Botox para maging normal ulit. And then she will not chew gums anymore para maganda na siya sa ‘Glee,” Belo added in her ABS-CBN interview.

But are those procedures really that necessary, especially for an 18-year-old whose face has already been equated to that exceptional singer who wowed audiences around the world with her powerful voice?

After all, “Glee” is about sensational musical performances not Botox-stuffed celebrities.

Charlene Gonzales recently signed a contract with ABS-CBN to formalize her new stint as a co-host on The Buzz. She said in an interview following her contract signing, “I’m happy na Kapamilya ako ulit. My last show here I think was three years ago, At Home Ka Dito. Once a Kapamilya, always a Kapamilya talaga. Na-miss ko talaga ang ABS-CBN kasi madami akong naging kaibigan dito.”

Charlene, along with Toni Gonzaga, made their debut as The Buzz co-hosts last July 11. Although she had fun doing that episode, Charlene also confessed that her return to TV hosting made her feel nervous. “Sabi nga niTito Boy (Abunda) parang pilot episode ‘yung ginawa namin kasi lahat bago. Kinakabahan kami lahat. Nagkasama sama kami the night before for dinner, then the following day live show na agad. It was something new for all of us kaya kami lahat nagtatantyahan kung ano ang gagawin namin. But it was fun to work with them kasi magagaling silang lahat, professional, at mababait.”

For the three years that she was absent from TV, Charlene devoted her time to being a wife to Aga Muhlach and a mother to their twins Atasha and Andres. When the offer to co-host The Buzz came along, she knew it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. “It’s the opportunity of working with good hosts like Tito Boy, Toni, KC (Concepcion). This is something new for me. Ako naman I always want to try something different things. This is a genre na parang hindi ko pa nata-try. Gumawa na ako ng lifestyle show, dance, tapos ngayon naman showbiz oriented talk show. Ibang field so I thought it would be interesting.”

The former Miss Universe semi-finalist revealed that she didn’t have a hard time asking the permission of her husband if she can work again on TV. “Pumayag naman agad siya. Every decision naman namin we first consult each other. He was very, very supportive. Nag text siya at tumawag agad habang umeere ‘yung Buzz. He was very happy watching me.” She also talked about how her daughter Atasha is a big fan of The Buzz. “Nung nalaman ni Atasha na may offer sa akin ang The Buzz, sabi niya, ‘Mama gawin mo na, I want to watch!’ Gusto nga niya sumama sa akin sa first episode pero sabi ko ‘wag muna kasi may nerbiyos pa ako. But I told her na when things get settled na I will bring the kids to watch.”

The only downside though is that Charlene won’t get to spend her Sunday with the family since she has to be in the studio for work. “Nanibago kami sa schedule. Before kasi usually every weekend kaming family nasa Batangas, out of town. Now our weekends will not be the same na. Siguro ‘yung family day namin weekdays na lang.”

Charlene seemed to be ready to take on the job as an “intrigera” for The Buzz and she said that she will not be the kind of host who will play safe with her interviewees. “I don’t want to ask questions na safe. Gusto ko itanong ‘yung required of me as a host at ‘yung gusto talaga malaman ng mga tao. I think kung sino man ang mage-guest sa The Buzz alam na nila na more or less ang requirement ng show. Tsaka when you reach a certain age gusto mo rin na you’re more settled sa sarili mo, not as fearful anymore, so you want to be playful din.”

For the debut of her own segment called “Straight from the Heart with Charlene,” she had the honor of talking to the Queen of Teleserye Judy Ann Santos who shared her feelings as an expectant mother. “It was a magical moment. Tuwing gagawa ka kasi ng interview hindi mo talaga malalaman ang mangyayari. The beauty of hosting is you will never know what will happen until it’s finished. I just love Judai so much and her family. When we were there, nararamdaman ko ‘yung nararamdaman niya, as a mother and six months pregnant. I felt her that day and that was a very magical moment. I’m just thankful that she shared hindi lang sa akin kung hindi pati sa lahat ‘yung present state niya ngayon.”

KC Montero is one of the few Pinoy celebrities who’s very active in Twitter. Each day, the TV and radio host uses the social networking site to connect to his friends and fans, as well as to promote his radio show, The KC Show on U92 and broadcasted online through ustream.tv.

What makes The KC Show interesting are the unique schemes that KC pulls off to rope in followers.

Aside from live musical guests—recent ones were Ely Buendia and La Diva—there are comedy skits, commentary, and also a “Phone a Celebrity” segment where KC calls a celebrity and broadcasts the conversation live.

But a new gimmick takes the cake: this involves a wig, a dress, and tons of makeup. Yes, the tall and bulky macho male celebrity is dressing up in drag.

This afternoon, July 12, The KC Show featured KC dressing up as a woman. Shown live on the Web was KC’s transformation from a brute to a butterfly named “Cassandra Monteroid.”

KC wore a wig from Angel Locsin, a dress from Sarah Meier, and makeup applied live by Bubbles Paraiso.

KC took on the drag challenge today because he lost a bet he made on July 5. On that date, he posted on Twitter: “Lets start a campaign for Justin Bieber to follow me. I will come to work in drag if he does.”

Justin Bieber is a young international popstar popular for his songs “Baby” and “One Time.” The 16-year old singer has millions of fans all over the world, composed mostly of pre-pubescent girls.

After KC posted his Twitter campaign, hundreds of Pinoy Twitter users immediately reposted it. Even his celebrity friends Denise Laurel, Maxene Magalona, and Angel Locsin promoted his campaign.

The next day, KC posted that the campaign was a success, and that Justin Bieber had indeed followed him on Twitter.

“For those of you who don’t know yet. The campaign for the bieb to follow me worked. For that I will be in drag all next week,” KC said.

This is why KC started Monday on his radio show in drag.

But who does KC look like the most? Some Twitter users say he looks like beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez, while some say he looks like TV host Iya Villania.

Ruffa jokingly denied the comparison; Iya said she feels “flattered.”

“LMAO OMG….this is definitely not Ruffa G! Since when did I have bangs???” Ruffa exclaimed on Twitter.

“Hahaa :) I’m flattered! *blushes*” was Iya’s comment.

Patrick Garcia is all smiles as he carried his son Alex Jazz while former girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado, the kid’s mom, looked on.

This is one moment showbiz scribes like me always want to witness in this zany world—the fiercest wars among ex-lovers can actually end, allowing such protagonists to look beyond the hurt and the pride and focus on what really matters–having the innocent prevail. AJ is surely one innocent protagonist, an unwitting victim to all the verbal tirades, heated exchanges that went on and on through the years, since Patrick and Jen’s ugly split.

But thanks to a more mature outlook, forgiving heart, Jen’s newfound love (a guy named Dennis Trillo), and maybe a “career realization,” AJ now has a father to look up to.

It wasn’t too long ago when showbiz talk shows featured Jen and Patrick, including their relatives, at loggerheads over AJ (visitation rights, infant milk purchases). Jen even came to a point in emphasizing and insisting that AJ does not have a father (leading to speculation about a scientific or religious miracle). Patrick even took a very long break from show biz, just to avoid the continuing controversy that put a screeching halt to a once illustrious career.

Their families were not spared from the intrigues, as the media also placed them in the spotlight, adding fuel to an already raging fire.

Observers to this much hyped spat, or a lover’s quarrel turned bad, only looked forward to seeing the day when both parties could eventually reconcile.

Patrick’s mom, Bing, summed it up perfectly: “Time heals all wounds.”

And, at the first birthday party of Patrick’s niece Kendra last June 27, that moment came. Patrick was already at the party venue, the Alabang Country Club, when Jen arrived with AJ. Upon seeing them, Patrick immediately approached Jen and their son at the door and gave AJ his first hug as a father — an emotional moment that drove some to tears.

Days before, Jen had already expressed her willingness to have Patrick visit their son. She admitted that Dennis was a big factor. In an interview with GMA 7’s Startalk, she said, “Yes, isa siya sa mga nag-convince. At isa siya sa nag-influence sa akin na, ‘Bakit hindi, bakit hindi mo ipahiram?’ At saka, maganda rin yung wala akong naipapakitang masama. Masaya lahat. Okey lahat. Masarap yung pakiramdam na okey lahat, walang samaan ng loob.”

And, as fate would have it, Jen had a chance meeting with Patrick’s sister, Cheska, wherein AJ and Kendra also met. During this encounter, Cheska invited Jen to the party.

Jen told Startalk that this was the first time she saw Patrick in three years, and that she only communicates with Cheska through text messages. During these conversations, she said Patrick had always asked how she and AJ were. “Kinakamusta niya palagi si Jazz. Do’n nag-start yung communication.”

Jen said that despite all the problems she and Patrick faced, she was happy that this moment came. “Happy ako na finally, nagkita na ang dalawa. I’m sure, yun na rin yung pinakahihintay ng family nila. Kami rin, gusto naman namin na magkita yung mag-ama.”

And of course, it resulted in renewing and “restarting” their lines of communication—leading to more visits from Patrick and hopefully bonding moments with his son. Kahit papaano, nakakapag-text. Nakakapag-communicate kami. Okey na ‘ko. Kumpleto na rin. Kahit paano, wala na akong itinatago. Hindi ko na kailangang itago si Jazz.”

KC Concepcion in Noah’s Set

Actress-host KC Concepcion has categorically denied reports that she would visit heartthrob Piolo Pascual, her former leading man, in Subic where the actor is shooting scenes for his upcoming teleserye “Noah.”

“No, hindi po ako dumadalaw sa Subic nor no where near in Subic do I go,” Concepcion said.

Concepcion also pointed out that there is no need to travel as far as Subic just to visit Pascual since they would see each other often even if they are working.

“Pumupunta naman po si PJ (Pascual’s nickname) sa totoo lang sa set, sa dressing room kapag may show po ako. Sinasabi ko lng po ‘yan because why do I need to go to Subic to be with good company if I see him often?” she said.

The actress-host lamented that despite her repeated denials, the press would still persistently ask her about the reports.

“Ano naman po kung aminin ko sa inyo na pinagbigyan ko si director Malou (Sevilla) or director Lino (Cayetano) to visit the set if totoo. Pero hindi po talaga ako dumadalaw sa set ng Noah,” she maintained.

The reports came out after child star Zaijan Jaranilla, popularly known as Santino from the famed “May Bukas Pa,” told reporters that he heard from the show’s staff that the actress would go and see Pascual on the set.

In a separate interview, Jaranilla clarified though that he never saw Concepcion on the set.

“Pero may narinig po akong dumalaw si Ate KC. Hindi ko po nakita pero may narinig po ako doong nagsasabi na crew,” he said.

Concepcion said she wondered who among the staff told that story to the 9-year-old star.

“Si Zaijan siyempre bata. Hindi magsisinungaling ang bata…. So, nagtataka ako kung sino ang nakakita sa akin doon o kung sino ang nagsabi kay Zaijan na nandoon ako,” Concepcion said.

Bad light

The actress-host defended Jaranilla, who was put in a bad light after his statement was denied by both Concepcion and Pascual. She appealed to the media not to take the child star’s statement out of context.

She said: “Kapag may sinabi silang kumpleto sana din po kumpleto ang ilabas nila kasi napagbibintangan tuloy ng hindi maganda.”

In a separate interview, Pascual also came into Jaranilla’s defense, saying that the child was just joking when he made that statement.

“May kasunod ‘yon ng sinabi niya ‘joke joke.’ At hindi naman maganda tignan na ang babae ang dadalaw sa set at ang layo namin. Sa Subic kami,” Pascual said.

Pascual and Concepcion first worked together as lead stars of Filipino adaptation of Korean telenovela “Lovers in Paris.” While doing the TV show, Pascual admitted that he was courting the actress.

Since then, the 2 refused to discuss in public the status of their relationship.

Concepcion said: “Wala pa ito sa love. Siguro hahayaan ko siyang magsalita about that. But he’s been very persistent, visiting me and we are closer than ever. And I never denied anything when it comes to Piolo.”

The crowd at the Araneta Coliseum last Friday went wild when actor Jake Cuenca showed his butt during The Bench Uncut Fashion Show 2010.

Cuenca was the last celebrity to strut on stage, and he said baring his butt was part of the show’s gimmick. Cuenca threw his white underwear to the audience, triggering screams from the excited fans.

“It was planned but I wanted to do something different. Every year marami na akong nagawa for Bench, marami na akong gimmick na nagawa. So, this is something different. I want to make the finale something special.

Definitely, it’s a dream come true para sa akin. Naalalala ko, unang una kong Bench show wala pang tumitili. I was not known at all. Who would have thought after 3 Bench shows, magiging pang-finale ako? So sobrang flattered ako at sobrang thankful ako,” he said, adding:

“Nagdasal ako bago ako lumabas kasi sobrang laking responsibilidad ang pagiging finale. So, sinasabi ko sa mga tao na sobrang kabado ako.”

Big stars from different networks also participated in this year’s fashion show, including Sam Pinto, Johan Santos, Jason Francisco, Melissa Cantiveros, Pokwang, Enchong Dee, Katrina Halili, Coco Martin, Karylle, JC Buendia, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson

Arnel And Jovit Duet

Journey Frontman Arnel Pineda does not mind being compared to newcomer Jovit Baldovino. Jovit, the winner of the recently concluded Pilipinas Got Talent, is said to have the same singing style as the Pinoy international Rock Star. “Hindi naman maiiwasan yan eh. Pareho kami ng ginagawa. They have to support us both,” Arnel told the entertainment press in a brief interview during the victory concert party for President NoyNoy Aquino held last night, June 30, at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

Arnel and Jovit performed a duet of Journey’s “Faithfully” for the audience, who were more than happy to watch the two on stage singing together. Arnel said he actually fels “honored” to be compared to 16-years old Jovit, a former siomai vendor in Batangas.

“Walang insecurity” he said. “I’m just very very happy for him. It’s great that he’s able to express himself.”

Arnel said Jovit’s talent is “getting better and better everyday.” “He need to keep it up”. he said.

James Yap has remained mum about his marital woes, even after his wife, Kris Aquino, went on national television and aired their dirty laundry. But today, he released a statement which says a lot about his character, and reveals his intention of keeping the family intact.

“Kilala niyo po naman ako. Tahimik at simple lang akong tao. Tingin ko din itong lahat na issues na naglalabasan siguro dapat kami na lang mag-asawa ang mag-aayos in private. Ever since naman, never niyo akong naringgan ng kung-anu-ano tungkol sa relasyon namin ni Kris.

“Kaya konti lang ang gusto kong sabihin.

Both of them are denied the rumors. According to Mariel Rodriguez, “Sobrang gentleman ni Robin Padilla, sobra. Walang mali sa kanya. Sobra niyang gentleman so hindi siya ‘yong type na [ganoon],” . For those people that are fans of Mariel, she just recently broke up with actor Zanjoe Marudo.
